Writer's Workshop: The Random Things You Don't Know

I thoroughly enjoy participating in Mama Kat's weekly writer's workshops, there are always such intriguing things to write about and sometimes its just plain hard making a decision on what to write about. I often go back and use an idea later, so I get to use them all. If you ever find you're having writer's block or you just want to 'meet' new bloggers and share you're blog with others then head on over. Join in all the fun!

The Random Things You Don't Know About Me & My Family:

*I was told I'd never have kids, due to having stage 4 Endometriosis.
*While pregnant with Aislynn, I joked that I was ready to be done and a week later I went into preterm labor.
*Rhiannon is 23 months old and weighs 19lbs & Fallon is 10 months old and weighs 17lbs 15oz, Pixie fits her nickname perfectly!

*Joined the Army without my family's support, it wasn't until later that I got it.
*My Hubby & I were engaged 4 times before we actually got married, an original wedding date was Aug 10th, 2004.
*I lived in a real haunted house for 2 years and kind of liked it!
*I hope to write a book some day.
*Self taught quilter and when my Grandma passed away this last year, I inherited her very expensive, hardly been used Bernina sewing machine and serger.
*During my senior year of high school, my school was the first in Utah to perform 'Les Miserables.' I was supposed to be in it but following surgery I was only able to help with tech.
*I had major ankle surgery half way through my senior year and missed six weeks of school, and still graduated.
*I have a thing for cemeteries, I loved to take photos of them and love to wander around in them. We have to stop at at least one or two every trip.
*With the help of my Father-in-law I finally decided to incorporate my hobby of photography with my fascination of cemeteries and my love of history to study to be an archaeologist.
*I was Sterling Scholar for English & Literature when I was in High School.
*My Hubby works 60+ hours a week, so that I can stay home with our kids.
*Aidan told me the other day that 'Jesus built our TV and our house.' Which totally cracks me up, but makes things hard to explain that He did indirectly.

I had fun with this one, I think I'll do one of these every week. If I can feel well enough to do it, that is! I hope you enjoyed learning random things about me & my family!

  1. Dropping by from Mama Kat's!

I love your kids names :)

We have some really old cemeteries here, that are really interesting to walk through. I have tons of pictures from the last trip I made to Bonaventure with my friend.

    1. Thank you, Stacey! We both come from large families and wanted unique names, plus we're totally in love with Celtic names! I have hundreds of photos from the cemeteries I've visited, most people find it a morbid hobby, but I'm always so fascinated by the lives that they lived! Someday I'd love to go to the cemeteries back East where Civil War soldiers are.

  2. When my mother was diagnosed with endometriosis in the 80's, they told her that getting pregnant was the cure - goes to show you that doctor's don't always know what they're talking about!

I love that you lived in a haunted house! My mother and I are a paranormal investigations team - that kind of thing is right up my ally!!

What Aiden said about Jesus and the TV is hilarious! Sounds like something one of my kids would say, LOL!

Found you on Mama Kat's today :-)

    1. Thank you for visiting! You know I decided that if God wants you to have kids, you're body will overcome any obstacle to have them! I am grateful every day for my miracle babies, every one of them. (Even the days they have me practically pulling out my hair!) ;)

It was unnerving at first when we first discovered our house was haunted, but I love supernatural things and have always felt I was more in tune with the spirit world then most. They went about whatever it was they would do and we'd hear them, or see them occasionally. We lived in an old mining town and I have no doubt that they were residents from long ago. It was cool, but creeped everyone out!

Kids always say the darndest things!

  4. In nice weather we do cemetery walks to find gravestones for genealogy research (ours and others requests). Something peaceful about them.

    1. That sounds like so much fun! I've recently gotten into genealogy and I've enjoyed learning, but have so much more to learn! I could honestly sit or wander in a cemetery for hours if I had the time. We went to Chicago and spent two hours in a 350 acre cemetery, I hardly saw anything. I dream of going back! Thank you for visiting!

    1. They really do, even the simpliest square pattern quilts. I get told a lot that I have a lot of patience to do quilts, but I could never get the hang of patterns for clothes & stuff, but find it soothing to work a quilt. Thank you for visiting!

    1. I look forward to the adventures I might have when I get my degree. I got to visit a site while I was pregnant with Pixie, where they were moving two 100+ year old caskets. It was so cool! Thank you for visiting!

  7. I love that Jesus built your TV ;-) And cemeteries can totally be interesting, my co worker uses them all the time in her genealogy research. I love really really old stones.

    1. I was totally shocked when he told me that, and had to laugh at the wonderful way his mind works. He's been learning about Jesus at Church and understands far more then I realized. ;) I have found some of the most beautiful headstones on my adventures, I'll definitely share some of my best photos soon! Thank you for visiting!

    1. I love hearing how others like me got to have miracle babies too! I also get a lot of 'Its so easy for you to get pregnant, you have four kids.' If only people knew what hell I went through to get my four babies. Oh, well, I'm glad that Dr's aren't always right!
